BigPat - heppers for TRUTH

24 Dec. 2004
Two hfT attacks to those spewing fictitous information hep C and using false words (12 Mar 2004):

  • New!  My comment to England's Daily Telegraph hep C article and Charles Gore of Hepatitis C Trust about a rather faulty article - 30 Apr 2005

And proposed shirt selection

If you're interested in becomming a hepatitis C 'activist', please do bookmark this page for updates and a point of reference.

I've changed my position about being diseased with hepatitis.  From this day forward, anyone knowingly providing altered, favored, or bogus hepatitis misinformation will be subject of my rants.

I did this back in a good part of my cycling days; we had many politicians getting fed bogus information that led to a variety of land closures in California.  I was with a group using tactics that I absolutely wasn't familiar with (initially), that got some very good media attention, and made a very positive impact for the off-road cycling community.

Those same tactics will be used for the hepatitis community.

  • From this day forward, anyone spewing forth garbage information about remedying hepatitis C with medication, like the overly inflated success rate claims from Schering-Plough and Hoffmann-LaRoche of 53% and 56% success rates will be subject to the rants heppers for TRUTH.  (Actual success rate for these medications run in the 20-30 percent neighborhood.)
  • From this day forward, any medical professional using the "C" word (CURE) will be subject to the rants of heppers for TRUTH.
My starting point, to some degree, is listed on my Corruption page.
Over the next week or so, I will have art work completed and will have available polo and t-shirts for purchase (cost plus shipping).  No profit will be made by myself whatsoever, and I will try and arrange for direct shipping from my shirt supplier.

I would very much like to see these shirts be worn nation-wide/world-wide at a variety of hepatitis 'events'.  It will not take a bunch of folks wearing hfT shirts, spewing forth a variety of wualified and pointed questions, to get the media take note and to get those promoting the fictitious tales to completely revise themselves.

We will want to media to take notice of us, as printed stories and TV news interviews will go a long ways in a very short duration for getting those propagating false claims of medicine treatment for hepatitis C (and much more) to quickly revise their commentaries.  You will need to develop your own favorable media contacts as well.

Heppers for TRUTH will be a non-group, group.  Meaning, I'm not going to file a DBA nor do any special tax-related stuff for this non-group (such as filing a non-profit corporation).  Events we attend will be at our own expense.

From this page, I will put together a list of outrageous claims and qualified challenges to be thrown at those making such claims.

We need to take our hepatitis community from the point of being a multi-million dollar business to one where we have some good progress being made research-wise to properly remedy hepatitis C.

Watch this page for updates!  I will setup so you can order shirts via a PayPal payment transaction.  I hope to be able to do business cards in the same fashion, but it might be easier for you if I just put an example online with an explaination of font and font-size.  Our challenge talking points are (as always) subject to comments, though be prepared to qualify any statements in regards to this.

As well, I need anyone preparing to sport an hfT shirt, to be well prepared to qualify thier own challenge statements  for the media and pharmaceutical manufacturing reps.  We'll want to do a positive showing, not a befuddled one.  Please do your homework.

For me, since learning of my hepatitis C (26 July 2004) this has been a non-stop research project.  It helps me maintain a proper focus on life and family.   Now, with the wide tales being pushed by pharmaceutical manufacturers and others, our hep C community desperately needs this activist element within it!

This is an opportunity to help lead to some truthful commentaries from all those currently spewing massive amounts of fiction to the media and the hep C community.

For all interested, it is best if this non-group is recognized in the media and the medical community as an actual group, and professional in nature.  (this item will soon disappear from this page).

And as we get active, it would be quite nice if you could provide me with a link to good media coverage where there is a mention of hfT, good or bad.  You pick you own events, all I ask is be prepared for challenges yourself, and be prepared to qualify and expand on your own commentaries to the media.  It's not hard, if I can do it, anybody can!  It's just a matter of being prepared.

And for the medical professional element that likes to use the "C" word, the hfT challenge is already in place:
