High water at the Pipeline Walk in Downtown Richmond.
Peaking around 18 ft. in Richmond, the James displays awesome force as it makes its final rush to the tidal plain here at the fall line.
Even a river this powerful is no match for the pollutants that wash off our streets, fields, businesses and homes. With this flood, overwhelmed sewers in our watershed have caused the Virginia Department of Health to close the James River oyster beds to harvest due to concerns about diseases like hepatitis A.
We need strong action to support replacing and upgrading our aging sewer systems. Visit www.jrava.org to find out what the James River Association is doing to restore America’s Founding River.
Thanks James River Association for sharing!
